Integrating 3D models is never simple but working with a 200-million-vertex file of an entire villas compound takes it to another level. Tracking, compositing, and making it feel like part of the real world, that was the real challenge.

The client has two primary goals: first, to document the project's physical commencement on-site, demonstrating the developer's credibility and commitment; second, to showcase the development's real-world appearance through live footage rather than 3D renderings.

My Role & Workflow

From initial editing to final delivery, I handled the entire video production process. This began with selecting optimal shots, followed by clip editing, color correction, and grading. I then designed the effects for each sequence to align with the project's branding. Subsequent stages included motion tracking, animation integration, and realistically compositing 3D assets into live footage for seamless output.

Massive 3D Asset Complexity:
Solution: Optimization of the 200m vertex mesh and utilizing proxy workflows for smooth viewport performance.
Material Overload:
Solution: Procedural texturing where possible to reduce memory overhead while maintaining realism.
Lens Distortion:
Solution: rigorous match-moving and distortion grids to align the clean CG camera with the drone footage.
